We are told it's a children's fairy tale. We are told it's rated R. We know it sounds like Spanish because er, it is in Spanish. The story finds a way to compare the imagination of a child with fascist cruelty.
Take all of that, mix it in a blender, and out comes Pan's Labyrinth, the best film of 2006.
