Since Star Trek XI is officially the first Star Trek installment that I will be looking forward to thanks most in part to JJ Abrams, it is good to hear the director-producer discuss the film's different take on the franchise.
Different take? Like having the Enterprise crash on a deserted island different take?
Abrams Talks Star Trek XI
"I can't wait to do this", says JJ Abrams, the same producer who wowed audiences with ABC's LOST.
In a recent interview with EW, JJ Abrams was not willing to give away any story details for Star Trek XI, but did give a little more information on what he expected from the fans.
''On the one hand, for people who love Star Trek, the fix that they will get will be really satisfying,'' he says. ''For people who've never seen it or know it vaguely, I think they will enjoy it equally, because the movie does not require you to know anything about Star Trek. I would actually prefer [that] people don't know the series, because I feel like they will come to it with an open mind.''
Though Variety did mention that Abrams would also direct Star Trek XI, there has been no word on it since. If not, Bryan Singer would make an excellent addition as well.
