When MTV
released their Top Ten list of 2007 I was shocked to see that Transformers
only landed the #10 spot. This film is looking (at least to me) to kick
some major ass. So imagine my reaction when I saw that Moviefone's
Top 20 of 2007 had Transformers at the #20 spot. What?!
They can really think of nineteen other films that will be more anticipated
than Transformers? Let's take a look.

Why We're Excited: Michael Bay delivers a live-action flick based on
an '80s cartoon about robotic aliens kicking each others' asses on Earth.
Sounds preposterous, but it's jam-packed with cool effects, action and Bay's
signature talent for blowing stuff up. Perhaps there's more to it than meets
the eye.
Though the "more to it than meets the eye" should tell any avid
moviegoer that the snippet above is describing Transformers,
the film has still not convinced a single "Top Whatever of 2007"
list that it is a top five contender. We have a few of our own 2007 lists
coming shortly and I can promise you that at least one sees things a bit
different. As in from the viewpoint of a thirty-foot robot.
Before I even saw the list I predicted the top three selections. Of course
those are the top three, look at their box office histories.
When it comes to the rest of the list, however, I considered having those
films play, "What would you rather see if released on the same day
as Transformers" game. I know, long title, but I can
bet that Transformers would win in most cases.
But hey, it's #20, ranked lower than some films that don't even have teaser
trailers yet.
