Smith and Sony Show Mercy

Now that The Pursuit of Happyness has broken $125 million domestically, Will Smith is feeling pretty confident with his Overbrook banner. The actor has recently moved forward with the purchase of a new spec script from the guy who wrote the screenplays for James and the Giant Peach and Tall Tale: The Unbelievable Adventures of Pecos Bill.

Smith, Overbrook, Sony Purchase Sisters of Mercy


Smith's Overbrook banner has teamed with Sony to purchase Steve Bloom's spec script Sisters of Mercy for mid-six figures. The deal will have Smith and James Lassiter produce for Overbrook along with Alex Siskin, who handed the project over to the shingle.

Story follows a widower father who is rescued after his wife's death by members of her book club. These same members soon begin running his life with their advice on parenting and dating.



it has not been said if Will Smith will take advantage of Sisters of Mercy as a starring vehicle.
