Are you ready for the return of "Brokeback Sopranos"? Well, neither or we. On April 8th The Sopranos will return for the second half of its sixth season and if HBO doesn't get things moving by the end of the series, we may just have to stick with Entourage, returning for its second half on the same date.
HBO's The Sopranos and Entourage Return April 8th
What the hell is up with all of these half seasons? At the beginning of Season 6 of Sopranos we were warned that the expanded season would have enough extra episodes -- 8 in fact -- to almost compile into another, seventh, season. Well, thank the gangster gods for that considering the first 'half' of the season had its own version of "Brokeback Criminal." Not that we are homophobic, it is just that too many episodes were given to a single character. Did the story progress anywhere else? Not really.
And then we have Entourage. No warning here. We were initially told that the Third Season would have twenty-plus episodes before "Aquamom" was every aired. Out of the blue we were cut off from Eric, Vince, Turtle, Drama and Ari with a promise that the season would return with Sopranos in spring. We felt betrayed, but the show is just too damn good to complain.
And now they are ready to come back on April 8th. The Sopranos will say its farewell while Entourage will continue to prove why it is one of the best thirty minutes on television.
For those of you wondering who to fill The Sopranos slot after the series' finale, HBO is already prepped to launch John From Cincinatti, a new skein that will hopefully be helped by Entourage's audience.
