Superman Returns Superman Returns
Just in case you have been in a coma that past eight months, Bryan Singer -- who now has the greenlight from Warner Bros -- continues to promise more action for the sequel to Superman Returns. Expected, since the first Singer installment was a little slow. Not bad, just something that spent a little too much time celebrating Superman euphoria. In his own words, Singer will "go Wrath of Kahn" on the second installment.

With the X-Men franchise, it took a couple more mutants to make X2 way more action-packed than the original X-Men. Will Bryan Singer stick to his guns and add more villains to the Superman sequel?

"Maybe."

More Action Means More Villains in Superman Returns Sequel

Sci Fi Wire recently caught up with Superman Returns co-writer Michael Dougherty and got the scribe to give a bit more information on the Superman Returns sequel with hints, gestures, and subtle movements.

... Told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming sequel will feature at least one villain drawn from the DC Comics franchise. Or more than one? "Maybe," Dougherty said coyly in an interview."

"I think it's going to be a more action-oriented film," he said. "Again, the easy comparison to make was [X-Men] to X2, or Star Trek [The Motion Picture] to Star Trek II. I mean, I know that Bryan has said he's going to Wrath of Khan it, and by that he means, 'Let's take what we've already established—we've gotten that out of the way—and let's just make it shorter, tighter and more action-packed."

Yes, a lot of what Dougherty says is more of the same. But I do like the suggestion of multiple villains. The idea should be right up Singer's alley.

Stay tuned for updates.
