Now that The Fountain is close to concluding its theatrical run, director Darren Aronofsky has decided that he will pas de bourrée over to Universal with hopes to direct a film that takes place in the world of ballet. Sounds lame, I know, but this will somehow become a psychological thriller.
Darren Aronofsky to Possibly Direct Black Swan
Universal Pictures has acquired Black Swan, a psychological thriller to be produced by Aronofsky's Protozoa with the helmer also attached to direct.
John McLaughlin has begun writing the script for Black Swan, which will revolve around the manipulative relationship between a veteran dancer and a rival.
Universal is fast-tracking the project for Aronofsky, who currently has nothing on the to-do list. The same can't be said for Mike Medavoy's Phoenix Pictures, who will also produce. The production company has a busy spring ahead of them with Paramount's Zodiac on March 2nd, Fox's Pathfinder in April, and Warner Bros. License to Wed in July.
