Having Heroes and 24 play during the same hour on the same day is just stupid. Stupid. Besides being a possible ratings kill, the dilemma has no doubt caused multiple households to go out and get a second Tivo box. Many assumed that Heroes' ratings would slump or at least slow thanks to the return of Fox's hit series 24, but it looks like a superhero can stand up to Jack Bauer's strenuous interrogations after all.
Ratings Bout: Heroes vs 24
Who took Monday night in the first showdown between Heroes and 24?
Heroes is the winner! By the time both shows finished their run, it was Heroes that scored a bigger audience. The show that chapters the story of newly-evolved superheroes was able to pull in 14.8 million viewers to Jack Bauer's 14.4 million. Not too much bigger, but enough to easily secure the title this week.
Can NBC do it again next week? Hard to say, but, if you are like me, expect to remain frusterated knowing that both shows will remain in the same timeslot for their entire run.
Heroes airs at 9PM on Monday nights on NBC. 24 airs at 9pm on Monday nights on Fox.
