One of the few marines ready to take on oversized transforming robots who decide that what they are looking for is on planet Earth would be Tyrese Gibson. Playing USAF Master Sgt. Epps in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Transformers, Tyrese Gibson offers a little insight on the film and its production.

Tyrese Finds Transformers To Be More Than Meets the Eye

Crave Online recently caught up with Tyrese and besides all the hoopla on singing, acting and (occasional) flexing, the actor went on to describe his experiences while on set of Transformers.

When asked about his experience on set, Tyrese responded with, "It was incredible. There was not one day that I showed up on that movie set and what I was exposed to didn’t blow my mind."

When working with both Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg, one could imagine that response from the most veteran actor. Gibson's character is a marine by the name of Epps.

"I am what you would call a combat controller. My [job] is to communicate with all of the aircraft; any Blackhawk’s or any B2 Stealth Bombers or anything that has to do with aircraft."

One of the challenges actors must face when starring in a big-budget film is imagining the effects that are taking place around you. When asked about possible difficulties while filming Transformers, Gibson points out that life-size robots were available to help aid his imagination.

"Actually, as difficult as it appeared to be it was pretty regular within all of that difficult shit. It’s not like they said put this green suit on and stand there like Tickle Me Elmo. It was the surroundings. It was about 40-50 foot Transformers in front of us that they built."

That's right folks, the giant robots in Transformers will not be entirely computer-generated. Tyrese went on to confirm that Transformers wrapped production two months ago.

For the entire interview with Tyrese on all his projects, head on over to Crave.

Transformers opens on July 4th, 2007.
