One of the two episodes that will close this season of The Simpsons will be a 24 spoof featuring the voices of Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub, according to the show’s producers. Sutherland himself confirmed that this is a character cameo, not the voice of 24’s actors.
Jack Bauer on The Simpsons
“Jack Bauer, I’m playing Jack Bauer,” he said.
The Simpsons spot will not take place in continuity with 24’s current storyline, but will feature plenty of inside jokes. “They’re completely different parallels but it is very funny and it gave them an opportunity to bring back a couple old jokes for Bart Simpson that I hope the audience will enjoy.”
Sutherland considers it a career highlight to provide his voice to the animated classic. “It was fantastic. I’m a huge fan of The Simpsons. My kids watched The Simpsons but I never watched it and I was in Prague about eight or nine years ago making a film, and the only English television they would have outside from the BBC news was The Simpsons. I’d been about three months before I even heard English and I heard it on the telly when that show came on and I sat and watched it. Then I was amazed that I’d even let my kids watch it because I think it’s such an adult show. I just fell in love with it so most of my friends think that if you got to do The Simpsons, you can retire and quit. I don’t wholly disagree with them.”
