Alvin and the Chipmunks
There was once a time when you didn't care if you accidentally copied a cassette tape over at double-speed, since it now sounded like a new Alvin and the Chipmunks record. Aaaalviiin! Those three high voices I had come to love in the eighties (some of you maybe the '50s) are looking to make a jump from television to the bigscreen.
Tim Hill to Possibly Direct CG Alvin and the Chipmunks
Fox 2000 and Fox animation has a Alvin and the Chipmunks movie ready to enter production. The studios are currently in negotiations with Tim Hill to direct the CG-live action hybrid.
Penned by Jon Vitti, project is based on the 1950s cartoon series about a music group of chipmunks comprised of mischievous group leader Alvin; tall and quiet Simon; and chubby, impressionable Theodore.
Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karmon will produce. The late Ross Bagdasarian Sr. was the creator of Alvin and provided all of the characters' high-pitched voices.
Tim Hill has an extended history with children films with a filmography that includes Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, and Muppets from Space. He was also the head writer on SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie.
