Nicole Kidman
I feel like I am taking crazy pills! After a month of slow new, January has ended with accident and tragedy. Where do I begin?
My Crash, Kidman's Crash, Ritchie's Death
Only minutes before writing this article I was alerted by my insurance agency that my truck was totaled. That's right folks, during the middle of last week I decided to take a drive to lunch during that quick fifteen minutes of rain. My Dodge Ram 1500 ended up hydroplaning across an intersection, slamming me into the lightpole at ~40MPH (more here). Fortunately, I walked an nobody else was injured. To give credit to the Ram, I still have no soreness to this day; knock on wood.
Well, it would seem that I am not alone when it comes to accidents, as Hollywood has already had two this week; one that ended fatally.
If you happened to be watching television last night, then you probably already saw the footage of the car accident that took place on the set of Invasion. Though this normally wouldn't be big news, Nicole Kidman was in the car. Don't worry Kidmanites, she is fine and, as far as we can tell, so are the stuntman zombies that were riding on the outside of the car. Check out the video below:
Ouch, but, like I said, nobody was hurt. Unfortunately this was not the case with an incident on the set of the sci-fi thriller Jumper.
It looks like the weather had a hand in this one as well. While dismantling an outdoor set in frigid temperatures, frozen sand and gravel from the top of a wall and landed on top of set dresser David Ritchie and another crew member. Ritchie was pronounced dead on the scene while the other crew member was taken to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries.
"On behalf of the entire production, it is with profound sadness that we confirm this tragic accident," read a statement from Jumper Prods. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to David Ritchie's family and all of those affected at this time."
Jumper actually wrapped production on January 19th, with some cast and crew members still on location in Tokyo.
