As the former love interest of prophetic painter Isaac and now empath Peter Petrelli, Simone (Tawny Cypress) has no super powers of her own. But that hardly means she won’t be integral to the development of Heroes’ subplots.
A Glass of Tawny in Heroes
“As a woman who has been in destructive relationships that involve drugs, I will say that I understand her dilemma,” said Cypress. “And I understand the nice guy versus the not so together guy. And I am rooting for my character to be happy. And I like being with Milo. He’s sunshine. But Santiago was fun.”
Luckily, it won’t be a choice for a while, as the love will become a bona fide triangle. “I get to have fun with the guys and I get to explore the love more. I’m the one character who gets to explore the most love in the show. Me and Noah, Noah has parents who love him to death. But we get to explore the aspects of love. Isaac comes back to me sober and it’s a whole new day.”
A skeptic about the whole super power thing, Simone is about to be converted in upcoming episodes. “I get to believe. I’m going to say it’s either episode 12 or 13 that you get to start to see a change in my character and you get to start to see me and Isaac together a little bit more. There’s proof and I start to believe and it’s a great fun ride for me.”
On the more speculative side, it occurred to Cypress, thanks to my suggestion, that there aren’t nearly as many heroines as there are male heroes. “Gosh, now you’ve got me thinking about it. I think that there should be more female heroes obviously, if you’re asking me. And I think that like Masi said, a hero doesn’t have to have a power.”
The producers have a perfectly good actress sitting right here, but right now the plan is to keep Simone away from the powers. “There is nothing written in stone, my friend. And the rules have been thrown out the window when they wrote the pilot for this. So I could get a super power. I’m not counting on it though.”
That doesn’t mean it couldn’t be a normal like Simone that saves the day while all the superheroes are messing around. “Oh my God. Where’s Tim? That is a great idea. I totally agree. Wouldn’t it be great?”
