Defying the odds of human dignity and intelligence, Epic Movie was the leader at the box office this weekend, thieving $19.2 million from the American public. Apparently we had not had enough after Scary Movies 1-4 and Date Movie. I’m perplexed. But let me not make comments, let me just deliver the numbers.
Box Office: Epic Movie and Smokin' Aces Take the Weekend
Smokin’ Aces surprisingly took the number 2 spot at $14.3 million. It must have had to do with the singer/actor ratio. Anytime this number is above 0%, your movie will probably suffer since the producers hired people with skills in the wrong craft.
Night at the Museum was able to hold on to the 3rd spot (not too hard when Catch and Release has the 4th spot at $8 million) by pulling in $9.5 million bringing its grand total to almost a quarter of a billion dollars over 6 weeks.
Incidentally, people are still trampling the hell out of the grass as Stomp the Yard took in another $7.8 million to put its total at about $50 million. Dreamgirls and The Pursuit of Happyness were the 6th and 7th highest grossers of the weekend and now I’m stating to reach movies and ratings that you just don’t care too much about.
So on that note…Please stay tuned for more updates.
