It looks like Warner Bros. has taken every measure to ensure that their new favorite upcoming director, Zack Snyder, goes balls deep inside the studio. Currently working on what looks to be one of the best films of the year, 300, Snyder has recently been signed up for Watchmen and now, to go one step further, a two-year first-look deal between his newly formed banner, Cruel & Unusual Films, and Warner Bros.
Two-Year First-Look: Snyder and Warner Bros
When you get one Snyder you really get two. Zack and wife, Deborah, serve as co-presidents of the company with Wesley Collar recently added to be a producer.
"Zack is an incredible storyteller -- he's got vision and a style all his own," said Warner Bros. production prexy Jeff Robinov.
Snyder, who (after toying with commercials and music videos) kicked off his feature film career with Dawn of the Dead, owes all of his recent commitments with Warner Bros to 300, a film that the studio is treating as their early tentpole for 2007.
The director is currently in pre-production on Watchmen, a project Paramount could not get off the ground with Paul Greengrass.
