Casino Royale
Though Casino Royale has finished its run in the states, the film continues to premiere across the globe with latest location being China. With cast and crew such as Daniel Craig and director Martin Campbell on the scene, some news was bound to turn up.
Martin Campbell: "Probably Definitely Maybe Not Do Bond 22"
After giving us GoldenEye and reinventing the Bond franchise with Casino Royale, director Martin Campbell has announced that he probably won't direct the next installment, currently under the working title of Bond 22. Coming off of Casino, one has to wonder what caused him sway his course. Let's try two guesses:
First guess relies on information established long ago. Among Campbell's public comments was one requesting immediate R&R after Casino Royale's theatrical releases finished up. Sticking to his plan, Campbell won't come back no matter how hard the studio pushes him. Come on, even Bond has a price.
The second guess on why Campbell would mention bouncing out on the project is that he was Mr. Negative that day. (continued below)
Can't blame him really, both he and Daniel Craig were offered pirated copies of Casino Royale while cruising the streets of China before the film's premiere. Campbell has announced that the trade will greatly hurt the film's revenue and not allow it to be seen under the proper viewing conditions. He also pointed out that the film's credits end with those from Fast and the Furious; he did find some humor there.
Will Campbell come back? It depends on how much the studio wants him back.
Casino Royale is out in theatres now.
