When you kick off your acting career with Harry Potter, it is damn near impossible not to be typecast later. Take Star Wars for example: Mark Hamill will always be Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford branched out.
Jessica Alba can stand around in her underwear in Fantastic Four, but seeing Radcliffe shirtless in the play Equus sparks controversy. Considering that he looked asexual with his lesbian haircut in Sorcerer's Stone, parents are shocked to learn that the same Daniel Radcliffe is becoming a man... A man ready to do the full monty.
ABC recently ran a report on the controversy that can be watched on Yahoo!. Besides predicting that the seventh book in the Potter series will be out this summer -- this information has not been confirmed -- they dive into some of the hysteria behind a nude Radcliffe. They don't get too far, however, when their one "parent interview" has a mom that agrees with Radcliffe's choice to branch out and show skin.
What are people so in angst about? Check out the pictures below:

I am shocked! Radcliffe doesn't trim! What is this, the '80s?
All kidding aside, I don't see what all the fuss is about. The guy actually looks pretty good in the role, a nice way to make a statement (with an exclamation mark) that he is not just a boy with a wand. The only problem is that Equus may have come too soon. We still got three Potter films to go over the next (at least) three years. He is going to have to make a nude appearance in HBO's Rome or appear in Playgirl to clear his Potter slate after 2009.
