I don't know who made a better impression: Gere on Lane or Lane on Gere, but the duo have decided to give romance another try in Nights in Rodanthe. After how things worked out in Unfaithful, I don't blame them.
Gere, Lane for Nights in Rodanthe
Warner Bros will adapt the Nicholas Sparks novel with Village Roadshow Pictures jumping aboard as co-financier.
In Nights in Rodanthe, Gere will play a doctor who is traveling to reconcile with his estranged son. On the way, he checks into an inn in a North Carolina beach town. There, he has a life-changing romance with a woman who's trying to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage.
So, as you may have noticed, Diane Lane gets all Unfaithful once again. Fortunately it doesn't look like Gere will have to kill the husband with ornament this time around.
Nicholas Sparks has been killing it with Warner Bros.. Nights is the third book of his that the studio has adapted including A Walk to Remember and Message in a Bottle. The author is also responsible for The Notebook, which Warner Bros. somehow passed up to New Line.
Gere can next be seen playing Howard Hughes' bogus biographer Clifford Irving in The Hoax. Lane recently wrapped both Killshot for The Weinstein Company and Jumper for New Regency.
