Columbia Pictures to Acquire You Don't Mess With the Zohan

Written by Sandler, Apatow and Smigel, You Don't Mess With the Zohan follows the exploits of a Mossad agent who fakes his death so he can anonymously move to New York and become a hair stylist. The film will be a starring vehicle for Sandler.

Smigel is currently penning a rewrite.

With Sandler on board, Happy Madison will produce through their Sony-based shingle.

Adam Sandler has two projects set for theatrical release this year including Reign Over Me and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

Judd Apatow recently found success with The 40 Year-Old Virgin and is looking to score again this year with Knocked Up.

Robert Smigel is the creator of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and is also responsible for The Ambiguously Gay Duo.

You Don't Mess With the Zohan will enter into production this summer in both Los Angeles and New York.

Stay tuned for updates.
