For those of you who couldn't get enough of watching victims fall for Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat, then we have some great news. Though we once considered the idea of a sequel impossible -- unless, of course, Cohen became another character -- Rupert Murdoch himself has announced that we will see a Borat 2.
Borat Sequel Coming
Financial Times reports that Rupert Murdoch has become buddy-buddy with Borat. So much in fact that the chairman has no doubt that a Borat 2 will go into production soon after Sacha Baron Cohen wraps with Universal's Bruno movie. For those of you who never caught Da Ali G Show, Bruno is a gay Austrian fashion show presenter that actually tricked the entire fashion industry. After an aggressive bidding war, Universal came out the victor for Bruno rights.
Fox was hoping to grab the Bruno pic as well, but Cohen wouldn't show the studio the script beforehand. Come on, you know it will be low-budget and rake at the box office, what more you need to see?
Though Murdoch has confirmed another Borat, neither 20th Century Fox or Sacha Baron Cohen have come out to follow that up. Is Murdoch just hopeful?
Murdoch's announcement comes with 20th Century Fox reporting record earnings this Wednesday thanks in part to Borat.
Murdoch claims that he watched the film three times and "laughed like hell".
Stay tuned for updates.
