Metal Gear Solid
Though even the best video game franchises don't usually turn into the best movies, Sony is willing to try again with Metal Gear Solid.
Sony Goes Stealth with Metal Gear Solid
Last rumor to pop up on this project was that Uwe Boll would direct it. Fortunately for all, that is not the case. No, a director has not been selected yet, but Sony is making ground.
Michael De Luca will produce the adaptation, with video game creator Hideo Kojima as exec producer.
Sony had been in negotiations with Konami Digital Entertainment long before last year's E3. The studio was persistent, considering that Metal Gear Solid has sold more than 20 million units since the first installment back in 1998. Though most don't know it, the franchise's roots are grounded in Metal Gear, a game available on Nintendo in 1987.
Columbia co-president said that the franchise is very cinematic in its storytelling and "loaded with well-developed, intriguing characters."
