Bandidas
I love when real movies go straight to DVD. It makes
you think you may actually get to watch a theatrical quality movie in the
comfort of your own home. Of course, the reason they go straight to DVD
is that they’re unreleasable, so you’re always disappointed.
But Bandidas is perfectly fine. There’s nothing wrong
with it.

It’s girls kicking ass. Salma Hayek and Penelope
Cruz are adorable as the western babes. It’s totally silly with all
their cute antics. There’s no historically accurate grit, but that’s
fine. It’s just an action movie with plenty of chases and gunfights,
with a simple bank robbing plot.
The production values are as high as any normal movie, maybe not Wild
Wild West size but certainly above TNT western. There are some
good horse tricks from the animal trainers to lend an air of authenticity,
like they didn't just CGI it in. It's really impossible to understand why
they didn't at least dump this in the last week of summer.
