You had a feeling this was going to happen, didn’t you? Critics are about as useful as an appendix sometimes. Norbit ends up getting blasted by reviews but it ended up taking the box office title as weekend’s top earner by pulling in $33.7 million. With Eddie Murphy playing everyone on the set except for the key grip, he was probably pretty happy with the numbers. It was Eddie Murphy’s 14th #1 opening overall.

The Hannibal cash cow came to collect its check this weekend as Hannibal Rising debuted at #2 with $13.4 million in earnings. Apparently, not having Anthony Hopkins in this version was not the smartest idea but hey, who am I to judge.
Night at the Museum and Epic Movie held their own in the Top 10 and the Oscar movies continued their resurgence in the theaters as people go to see them so they can sound like movie aficionados amongst their friends.
I know you don’t really care how good or bad Notes on a Scandal did so I’m just going to keep that information to myself.
