Ghost Rider
Though some would have thought that the flame fueling Ghost Rider was extinguished by critics blasting the film a fire extinguisher of negative reviews, the film was still able to take in a whopping $45.5 million over the weekend and now looks to be the biggest President's Day opening ever.
Ghost Rider Box Office Report
Be it Nicolas Cage or Eva Mendes -- it definitely wasn't the film's reviews -- Ghost Rider now owns the title of "Biggest Opening of 2007". It is only February, however, and one could only hope this record will be crushed next month by a little army known as 300.
Besides a huge opening weekend, Columbia Pictures is looking to score with the extended President's Day frame. With $51 million projected, Ghost Rider will become the biggest President's Day opening ever.
Disney, who has grown spoiled off Pirates, did well with $22 million thanks to two kids who dream up Terabithia. Little Girls pulled in some surprisingly moderate numbers as well with $12.1 million.
Even the spy-thriller Breach was able to scan up an estimated $10.4 million.
Wow, how many people went to the theatres this weekend? The car dealerships must have been pissed!
Ghost Rider opens to theatres on February 16th,
2007.
