Ghost Rider
It is always strange to follow up an article titled "Ghost Rider Worst Comic Movie Ever?" with one that says "Ghost Rider Breaks Presidents Day Box Office Record". Could both be true? It looks like it!
Ghost Rider Takes Box Office and Burns in a Presidents Day Record
No matter how bad a film's story or editing may be, one can never deny a film's entertainment factor - and what better time to shop for entertainment than during Presidents Day weekend?
If you didn't find the time to visit the theatres this weekend, let me start by telling you that you were one of the few. Even with the amazing weather -- in California anyway -- people were still convinced to spend two hours in the dark watching Ghost Rider and four other new wide releases this weekend. Since it is Ghost Rider that broke the Presidents Day record, however, let's talk about that.
Beginning today, the biggest President's Day weekend debut now sits at $51.5 million with Nicolas Cage and his Ghost Rider. You want irony?
The film most blasted by critics is also this year's biggest bow so far. That's irony!
Thanks to Ghost Rider and four other wide releases, the total Presidents Day (weekend) bo peaked at $165 million; up from $105.9 million a year ago. Though one would assume Ghost Rider had to take the Presidents Day record from another popcorn tentpole, it was actually Adam Sandler's 50 First Dates that previously held the title with $45.1 million.
Ghost Rider is out in theatres now.
