Scorsese and Monahan team up again fresh off their Oscar wins for The Departed.
Martin Scorsese, William Monahan Reteam for The Long Play
Only a day after the Oscar joy for all involved with The Departed, news broke that William Monahan will be in charge of the rewrite of The Long Play which is a film that follows two buddies through 40 years of trials and tribulations in the music business from R&B all the way to Hip Hop. Scorsese is of course set to direct the film.
Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Mick Jagger’s Jagged Films as Victoria Pearman (business partner of Mick Jagger) is set to produce the film. What do Scorsese and Jagger have in common, you ask? Well Marty just directed The Rolling Stones in a documentary last fall which is slated to come out this autumn.
The Long Play was originally in the hands of Disney but unfortunately the script wasn’t “Disney” enough so Paramount brokered a deal to get the rights.
Monahan has this set to be his next project even with all the Departed sequel talks being thrown around.
