Crank
Just like the film had fun with the conventions of action movies, so does the Crank DVD have fun with the extra features. The two extra features require playing along with the movie, and you'll probably get your fill after a few minutes of each.
DVD Review: Crank
Family Friendly Mode is the audio track intended for TV or airplane viewing. Considering they didn't change the video track, this ain't no airplane cut. But the profanity is omitted seamlessly. Freaking, heck, gosh darnit, those all make sense. They didn't invent some other word. In the sex scene, you can see Amy Smart mouth words that don't get said. It's ultimately a simple sound editing exercise.
Crank'd Out Mode plays all the behind the scenes stuff during the movie. Personally, I just like to get to the stuff, but the directors' style is to demonstrate. So they give an audio commentary and insert what are basically the standard "making of" shorts while the film is going on. You get to see the B-roll while the scene plays so you know what everyone is talking about. It's probably a more entertaining way to watch the stuff than just a string of documentaries, but I don't have 80 minutes to go through the whole thing.
