At last, we’re getting to the good stuff on American Idol. We survived the never-ending bad auditions. Don’t get me wrong it makes for good television. Hollywood week and getting down to the top 24 was enjoyable. This season getting the 24 down to 12 was almost painful.
American Idol Season 6 (Really) Begins
The guys are as a whole, are not as strong as the girls. In fact, the only four I would take to the final 12 would be Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson, Chris Sligh and Sundance. But Sundance is already gone.
On the girls side, there is so much more depth of talent. My top six would be LaKisha Jones, Jordin Sparks, Stephanie Edwards, Melinda Doolittle, Gina Glocksen and Sabrina Sloan. Alas, Sabrina was eliminated last week. So there are 5 girls and 3 guys that far outshine the rest.
Now the real contest begins and I am asking one small favor of the voting public. No actually I beg, beseech and implore you – please vote for the most talented contestants. Do not vote for who you think is cute or has the best hair. I hate to sound like Simon, but this is a singing competition. Let’s work together and find the next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. I know we can do it if we try.
