I may be slow on the uptake on this latest detail about Grindhouse, but we have recently received a confirmation that the film's total running time will come in at three hours and five minutes (3:05). And I thought Planet Terror and Death Proof were mini-films...
Grindhouse Running Time
Any time a film has a long running time I enjoy playing the "guess how long you're going to be sitting in a dark theatre" game. Never heard of it? Well, here we go!
Grindhouse is going to be 185 minutes or, for those who value their time, 11100 seconds. If you include how early you are going to have to get to theatres (got to catch The Twenty) we can add on 1200 for that and let's not even forget about the opening trailers. How long do those normally run? For the sake of estimate, lets go with 600 seconds.
Some of you are obviously going to want to stay for credits -- no matter that your bladder should at this point be about to burst -- so let's add another 180 seconds.
Now we do the math and discover that you have invested 13,080 seconds into Grindhouse. What can you do with so many seconds? I don't know, get your ass to the gym, play a round of golf, finally get some much-needed errands done, make a successful road trip from So Cal to Vegas, you name it.
Is Grindhouse worth your 13, 080 seconds? Since I can't think of a pair better than Rodriguez/Tarantino, damn shibby!
Just remember to order the small soda.
Grindhouse opens to theatres on April 6th.
