Just in case you haven't been keeping up with The Spielberg Times, know that the director has one heck of a sci-fi project coming our way and I'm not talking about Transformers - though that is bound to be amazing as well.
Way back in June of 2006, Spielberg announced that he was hoping to go Interstellar, a concept space adventure that also deals with other dimensions. When dealing with this material, the last thing you want to do is confuse people, so Spielberg and Paramount have picked up scribe Jonah Nolan to make sure things get done, or should I say written down, correctly.
Jonah Nolan to Write Interstellar
A space adventure that involves wormholes that not only lead to destinations but other dimensions - sounds tough. Since the plot was informed by a scientific theory by Kip S. Thorne, it will be Nolan's task to deliver a film that keeps fans more entertained than mind-boggled.
According to Thorne's theory, wormholes exist and can be used for time travel. Spielberg was so attracted to the idea (which I thought has existed in science fiction for, like, forever) that he attended a workshop on the subject with other scientists.
Nolan, who has delivered screenplays for Memento, The Prestige and is currently working on The Dark Knight, is a perfect candidate for what Spielberg wants to bring to the screen. No rush either, as Spielberg is still preoccupied with both Transformers and the fourth Indiana Jones installment.
