Before the release of 300, Warner Bros made sure to sign Zack Snyder to a two-year first-look deal. Now that 300 is fighting its own battle in theatres, the young director and his wife has chosen one of their first projects.
Snyder to Produce Army of the Dead
It's a return to what made him big. Zack and Deborah Snyder will produce Army of the Dead for Warner Bros. through their recently launched banner, Cruel & Unusual Films.
Though the film will be based on an original story by Snyder, there is still no word on whether he will direct. Not that this is an issue at the moment, considering that the project will have to wait until Snyder finishes Watchmen for Warner Bros. The project will begin filming this summer with Warner Bros. hoping for a 2008 release.
To be written by Joby Harold, Army of the Dead revolves around a father who tries to save his daughter from imminent death in a zombie-infested world. The film will take place in a quarantined Las Vegas.
Though Army will have zombies, don't expect something like Dawn of the Dead. Taking note from 300, Snyder is hoping the film to become a "zombie action-thriller" with a stylized, epic quality.
"I feel like there hasn't been a zombie movie on the scale that we want to do it."
