Because they have the power to do it, Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon are waiting on a rewrite of the script for The Fighter before they decide if it’s the next movie they will film. One thing we do know is that Darren Aronofsky is in negotiations to direct the film which is being rewritten by Paul Attanasio.

Problem is, the last film Aronofsky directed did about as well as a female astronaut driving across country with a diaper on. The film? The Fountain. Not necessarily an unpleasant film, it’s just that it had the marketability of films such as Requiem for a Dream and Pi. Hmm, what’s that you say? Oh, he directed those too? Whoops.
So you see, the producers behind the story about the coming of age of the Bostonian boxer, “Irish” Micky Ward with the help of his down trodden half brother Dicky as his trainer are a little nervous about Aronofsky’s approach since it will be far from orthodox.
We’ll see what happens and as long as things go as planned, filming will start this summer in Massachusetts.
