Metal Men
By the time we hit 2012 every comicbook franchise ever created will have film rights at least controlled by some studio - and that's if films for the franchise aren't already in production. Keeping Hollywood on schedule, Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the robotic superhero team Metal Men, setting the comicbook adaptation up with everybody's favorite producer, Lauren Shuler Donner.
Grant Morrison to Pen Area 51 Adaptation
Metal Men will be based on the DC comic and will tell the story of a brilliant scientist, William Magnus, and his creations: six highly advanced robots who have powers associated with their respective metals -- gold, iron, lead, tin, mercury and platinum. Instead of having to be programmed, the Metal Men can think for themselves, which is both their genius and their biggest flaw.
The group of heroes first appeared in Showcase and later got their own comic thanks to unexpected popularity.
Warner Bros. has already got scribe Eric Champnella on board to write.
Shuler Donner has been behind comicbook adaptations such as the X-Men films and Constantine.
