Barbarella
I know Hollywood is desperately looking for stories to, what's the word, 'reinvent', but whoever thought that Barbarella would one day be thrown up on the chopping block.
More Slinky Garb for Barbarella
Producers Dino and Martha De Laurentiis have completed a rights deal that will allow for a remake of Barbarella, a character originally played by Jane Fonda as a kittenish sexpot. Casino Royale scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have already been picked up to the pen the script.
"Barbarella is the ultimate science-fiction adventure heroine: smart, strong funny and sexy," De Laurentiis said. "I'm excited to reintroduce Barbarella to a new generation of moviegoers."
In the updated version of the film, Barbarella will be a free, modern gal who will be forced to survive in the future thanks to her intelligence, fighting skills and uncanny ability to open her legs faster than you can shout "open sesame".
The film should have some draw but, more importantly, imagine how much fun we are going to have during the casting process.
