The Da Vinci Code
I consider myself one of the many who were disappointed with Sony when they figured skipping the first Robert Langdon installment, Angels & Demons, for The Da Vinci Code was a good idea. Considering that I found Angels to be a better-paced story than Da Vinci, I couldn't have disagreed more.
With the international box office success of Da Vinci Code, Sony has got the wheels in motion to get what we are now calling a 'prequel' back to the bigscreen.
Howard and Hanks in Talks for Angels & Demons
Since there will be no Angels without a Hanks, it was important for Sony to secure a cast before moving forward. The studio is currently in final negotiations to reunite both Tom Hanks and Ron Howard for the prequel.
Though Sony is keeping its lips sealed on the specifics, insiders report that the studio is hoping for a January 2008 start date and has already hired A-list casting directors, Jane Jenkins and Debbie McWilliams, to fill all the other necessary roles.
Akiva Goldsman is supposedly finishing an adapted screenplay as we speak.
Stay tuned for updates.
