Audrey Niffenegger's bestselling novel, The Time Traveler's Wife, has found its way up to the adaptation chopping block with the help of New Line. To get the ball rolling, both Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams have been picked up to star.

McAdams has long considered the project, about a Chicago librarian with a genetic disorder that causes him to time-travel when he is under duress. Though his disorder causes him to vanish for long periods, he tries to build a life with the woman he loves. She's a young heiress struggling with the arrangement.
New Line acquired the novel back in 2003. After waiting a few years, shooting is now scheduled to begin this August with Plan B's Brad Pitt, Nick Wechsler and Dede Gardner set to produce.
A finished script did exist from Jeremy Leven, but scribe Bruce Joel Rubin has been hired to rewrite it.
McAdams has a past with New Line, for whom she starred in Wedding Crashers.
Bana can next be seen beside Drew Barrymore in Lucky You.
