American Idol
We had a jam packed hour tonight. The first celebrity performance was from Fergie singing, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” from “The Dutchess” album.
American Idol S6 Ellimination Round 6: Bye Bye Sanjaya
Ryan proceeded to divide our idols into two groups of three. The first group consisted of Sanjaya, LaKisha and Blake. The second group made up of Chris, Jordin and Phil. Melinda was placed in the middle and told she was safe. It was to be her task to pick the group that was safe and join them. She chose to sit in the middle of the stage between the two groups. Ryan finally told her to slide to her left which meant joining Chris, Jordin and Phil. This group was safe tonight.
This weeks mentor, Martina McBride, sang “Anyway” from her “Waking Up Laughing” album. Ryan asked her which of the bottom three she thought would be going home. She responded she did not know how America voted.
Ryan allowed Blake to return to safety. We are now down to LaKisha and Sanjaya. I was worried for LaKisha since she had her weakest showing this week. But, it finally happened; Sanjaya had the fewest votes and would be leaving. Thank you America. He did get teary, but when performing his song changed the lyrics to – “Let’s give them something to talk about other than hair”. This was definitely an appropriate sign off for Sanjaya and showed a good sense of humor.
Now we will be getting down to the nitty gritty. Next week the top 6 will perform and the voting gets tougher. We also have the “Idol Gives Back” charity concert featuring: Pink, Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban, Earth Wind and Fire, Il Divo, Quincy Jones, Hugh Grant, Rascal Flats, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Helen Mirren, Annie Lennox, Kiera Knightley and many more.
Performances Tuesday and results with the concert bonus Wednesday on Fox.
