The Hollywood Reporter is going to have to give their very own 'whoopsadasies' for when they incorrectly announced that Stardust would have an 'R' rating.
An awkward choice considering that the film is a fantasy -- a genre that enjoys the hardest of PG-13s -- and a chemistry that seemed more like a bowl of laughs than F-bombs and breasts. After doing a bit of investigating, the good people over at Joblo have received confirmation direct from the MPAA that the film will in fact be PG-13.
Correction: Stardust Rated PG-13
What do you know, another fantasy film falling into the PG-13 bracket. So how did THR get mixed up? Well, according to the MPAA, there is another, older film that shares the same name.
STARDUST, 2007 was rated PG-13, Paramount Pictures was the distributor. This film was never brought in for a R-Rating. There is a STARDUST that was rated R in 1974, distributor was Columbia Pictures. It appears that Hollywood Reporter information is incorrect.
So, no, you will not be seeing Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer or Sienna Miller's gawhowhos in this fantasy adventure.
