Fans were shocked to hear Whedon announced, after two years of er, 'issues', that he was stepping down from the Wonder Woman project. With time now to spare on other projects, one can only wonder what the director next has in store for us. A Serenity sequel? A fart in the wind, at best.

Well, how about X-Men 4?

Whedon Off Wonder Woman and Onto Mutant Gangbang?

Though I still find X-Men: The Last Stand to be the weakest installment in the trilogy created beautifully by Bryan Singer, I am always down for another go. Since we have still yet to see Gambit, why not have more X-Men installments? And I am not only talking spin-offs either.

In a recent interview with Wizard, Joss Whedon discusses the rumor suggesting him for X4 and how he would show interest in the franchise.

WIZARD: There’s a rumor swirling that you’re going to write and direct an “X-Men 4” movie. Care to comment?

WHEDON: I haven’t heard the rumor, but there is no rumor that is not swirling. I don’t even know, are they even going to have an “X4”? I had been talking with [Marvel Studios] about “X3,” but the dates didn’t line up. So I took on “Wonder Woman,” and that worked out great! Oh, no wait, I remember now, not so much.

WHEDON: Yeah, I haven’t heard anything about “X4.” You know, the problem with the big superhero movies is there are so many hands [involved], but I really respect [Marvel Studios President of Production] Kevin Feige if they make something like that. You know they’re actually going to make it as opposed to something that’s in limbo. And you know I do love the characters. I wouldn’t say never. But right now, I’m interested in doing “Goners,” which is my own thing, as opposed to somebody else’s. I find that doing someone else’s thing is not working out so well for me—anywhere but in the word of actual comics.

Whedon goes on to discuss his stepping down from Wonder Woman. As predicted, the guy was pretty invested and bummed out by his 'creative differences'. The director makes it sound like he had free reign to throw any script together that he wanted, and then his final product got the axe.

Stay tuned for updates.
