Universal Pictures' Nottingham has just got a whole bunch more interesting with the arrival of Ridley Scott. With Russell Crowe already on board to star as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Scott will direct.

Ridley Scott to direct, Brian Grazer to produce (Imagine Entertainment) and Russell Crowe to star? Impressive!
After buying the Nottingham script back in February from Sleeper Cell scribes Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris, Universal Pictures has slowly been picking up the proper talent to get production up and running.
Nottingham is a revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale, with Nottingham as a noble and brave lawman who labors for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood.
Production will begin next year.
Scott must first complete a CIA thriller for Warner Bros., based on the David Ignatius novel Body of Lies. Leonardo DiCaprio will star.
Scott and Crowe have a long history with Gladiator, A Good Year and the upcoming American Gangster.
