The Challenge
I have to admit, I was none too excited to see this movie because I didn’t know much about it. But The Challenge (or as it’s called in its native German, Kampfansage) was a very impressive movie. There’s something about the Germans. They’re calculating, serious and yet funny and it shows even in their filmmaking.
DVD Review: The Challenge
Writer/Director Johannes Jaeger clearly has the actors practice some of the martial arts moves once or twice before the cameras roll. There are more moves to remember than an NFL playbook. But even the story is pseudo interesting even for a martial arts flick. The world is in decay and destruction ever since the collapse of civilization due to natural disasters and the collapse of the global economy. And rule is conducted with an iron fist by neighboring warlords.
Enter our hero, Jonas, who is the man who must bring order and blah blah blah you know the rest! He kicks some ass and the movie itself has some interesting film techniques and shots not regularly seen by American audiences. Johannes Jaeger has a style all his own and it is definitely worth a view.
