Though Mel Gibson has already announced that he has no inspiration to return to past hits such as Mad Max, that doesn't mean he isn't up for a lighter fare such as a sequel to Maverick.
Mel Gibson Ready to Re-Deal Maverick
Gibson recently sat down with Hollywood and admitted that there is talk of doing another Maverick.
Gibson says, "There's talk of doing another Maverick. Garner and I have been looking at that for a while. It'd be fun to play that character again.
"I think audiences would probably like to see him again too. We really cooked the first time. We've got some great ideas--I think audiences will enjoy what we've got in mind. It won't be happening immediately, but I dare say, it'll happen."
Just because he is revisiting one don't begin to get your hopes up for other projects. During the interview Gibson insists that he will not return to either Mad Max or the Lethal Weapon franchise.
