Survivor Fiji Rundown: Episode #12

Walking back to camp after tribal council, Dreamz is trying to do the math on who voted for whom. Earl is upset about the vote. Splitting the vote did not work out they way they planned. He wants Alex out since he is perceived the bigger threat.

In an aside Alex tells us, “From now on I will play the game with a smile, velvet gloves and a dagger in my pocket.” He is planning to go into Ninja mode. He will not be seen or heard. He feels this is the best way to know how he can sway the vote.

Earl is talking to Cassandra. He wants to put the two of them plus Yao-Man and Dreamz into the final four. Earl refers to them as the ‘core four’.
Yao is concerned Cassandra will never vote against Dreamz. This would have him finishing in fourth place. Yao-Man would rather take Stacy to the final four.

Now for the reward challenge, our survivors must rip meat from a pork roast with their teeth. The roast is hanging on a hook from a rope. They have five minutes in which to pull the pork off and deposit it on their plate. The winner will choose someone to send to Exile Island. But the top three finishers will share the reward. They will be taking a helicopter ride into the rainforest followed by river rafting and a fabulous lunch. The winner will also receive an advantage in the next immunity challenge. The list of prizes goes on and on, it’s starting to sound like the Price is Right.

The challenge begins. This is beyond gross. The pork is hitting them in the face. Their faces and clothes are covered in meat residue. Some of the survivors are working together to hold the swinging meat still while others tear out bites. No one is helping Alex. After five minutes, Boo has 8.9 lbs, Yao-Man has 6 lbs, Cassandra has 5.8 lbs, Stacy has 4.3 lbs, Earl has 5 lbs, Dreamz has 6 lbs, and Alex has 5 lbs. Boo wins the challenge with Yao-Man and Dreamz coming in tied for the other two spots. Boo sends Earl to Exile Island saying “I know you don’t take offense”. What does that mean? Who doesn’t take offense when being separated from the tribe is a bigger threat to your game now than ever? Jeff also hands Boo a purple sack which holds the advantage to the immunity challenge.

The helicopter lands on the beach to pick the guys up. They fly over waterfalls, Exile Island and into the rainforest. Dreamz is getting angry at Boo’s continuous talking. He just wants to relax and enjoy the reward. They take their white water rapid trip and are loving it. There is a huge lunch of sandwiches. Boo, Yao and Dreamz are then surprised by letters from their family. Dreamz is teary from the letter his sister wrote. He has a renewed sense of why he is here. Yao-Man says this is the best reward yet.

Earl is on Exile Island and reads the second clue for the other immunity idol. ‘Your normal winding paths you’ll walk – It’s inside a tree near a lonely tower rock’. He thinks two clues will be enough for him to find the idol.

When the guys come back to camp after the reward, the ‘Boo bashing’ begins. Dreamz is telling everyone how Boo talks too much and really ruined the reward. Alex decides his best strategy is to ‘feed the fire’. He is trying to save himself at any cost. Alex knows he has to win immunity. He talks to Dreamz about the possibility of voting out Boo instead. Dreamz says he would much rather keep Alex than Boo. I don’t think anyone else will agree.

The tribe reports for the immunity challenge. Jeff has Boo empty his sack. Inside are the climbing steps needed for the second portion of the challenge. Since he already has the steps this puts him in the finals.

The other survivors must dig up three climbing steps in their row of sand. The first two to find all three will advance to the finals with Boo. It’s do or die time for Alex. He knows immunity is his best (only) chance to stay in the game. Dreamz is the first to dig up all three of his steps. Yao-Man and Alex are both digging feverishly. Alex is even throwing sand into Yao’s area. Cassandra isn’t really trying too hard. Alex is the next to uncover all three of his steps. Boo, Dreamz and Alex will be in the finals.

For the final part of the challenge, they are to use the climbing steps to get up a pole and reach the flag on top. The first to get the flag wins immunity. They are all trying to slide their steps in and make it up the pole. Boo has a bit of a lead. This prompts Alex to abandon the steps and start shimmying up the pole. The method is working well until he gets near the top and starts slipping. Boo makes up ground and is the first to reach his flag. Jeff places the immunity necklace on Boo’s neck. Is it just me or is Boo looking good after a month of the ‘Survivor diet’.

Now back at camp the planning begins. Everyone is talking about the vote and ultimately what will be best to advance their own game. In an aside Yao-Man tells us he doesn’t think he will need to use the idol. Are we being set up here? Alex is trying to make a pitch to Cassandra to save himself. He is trying to throw Yao under the bus by telling him he will want to get rid of Earl or Dreamz. Now Dreamz is thinking this could be the best time to get rid of Yao-Man. I’m getting nervous. And they say the only way to blindside Yao-Man is to blindside Earl.

Jeff asks Alex at tribal council how things are going. Alex replies he is going to fight to the very end. Yao-Man tells Jeff he can trust his alliance. Didn’t anyone tell him you can’t trust anyone in this game? Jeff introduces the possibility Alex could swing three people to vote with him. The person with the hidden immunity idol could in fact become a target. The idol can only be used for the next three tribal councils. Jeff then wants a yes or know answer as to if each of our survivors is concerned about tonight’s vote. Alex is the only one to answer yes. We see Alex vote for Yao-Man and Yao-Man vote for Alex. Before reading the votes Jeff asks if anyone would like to play an idol. There are no takers. Jeff reads the votes – Yao-Man – 1; Alex gets the rest and is voted off. Jeff ends tribal council by telling them they should return to camp and start sharpening their knives. Is this for the back-stabbing that is to come?

Will Yao-Man have to play his immunity idol? Will Earl find the other idol? Will Boo be able to stay in the game by winning challenges? (Remember he won both this week.) We are getting down to the good stuff. Who will be able to Outwit – Outplay – Outlast?
