Confident. I like it! Though I still hold some doubts on Shrek the Third, DreamWorks isn't waiting for the film to hit theatres and has instead already begun to plan Shrek 4. Since a returning cast should be a guarantee, the studio's first job is to find the next installment a director.
Mike Mitchell to Direct Shrek 4
Though the 'i's haven't been dotted just yet, Mike Mitchell is currently in negotiations with DreamWorks to direct Shrek 4.
Penned by Tim Sullivan, the fourth installment will feature a new adventure for Shrek and his growing list of buddies to partake in. With box office receipts that have only been growing for the franchise, DreamWorks is likely to continue making Shrek films until the character is blue in the face. The original installment grossed $484.4 million worldwide while the sequel near doubled that amount with $920.7 million.
Mitchell's credits include Sky High and Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigilo. He also has a bit of experience with animation, as he directed an episode of SpongeBog SquarePants earlier this year.
