Spider-Man 3
When you open up with a box office juggernaut to the likes of Spider-Man 3, Sony figures they'd be doing themselves a disservice by not creating more and more Spider-Man films. How about another trilogy?
More Spider-Man Sequels
During a recent run-in with BBC News, Sony Pictures chief executive Michael Lynton announced that Sony was going to suck the Spider-Man franchise dry.
"Everybody has every intention of making a fourth, a fifth and a sixth and on and on."
In short, Sony is going to keep making Spider-Man's until they create a Batman Forever.
There would be "as many as we can make good stories for", he pledged. Even with Sony's huge gamble (I mean, budget) with the film, the opening numbers are exceeded the studio's best expectations.
Speculation on Spider-Man 4 has existed ever since Spider-Man 3 entered production, but it took this huge opening weekend to convince Sony that they have to make more -- even with the shit reviews.
