After Spider-Man 3 found added success with early, midnight showings during its opening bow, other summer tentpoles began to copy the strategy. Disney announced that Pirates of the Caribbean 3 would arrive to theaters not only on midnight, but an entire evening earlier. With most films now singing a different tune, DreamWorks assured fans that Shrek the Third would not follow suit and keep to its original release on May 18th.
Not so says one of our readers...
Shrek the Third Coming Early?
Got a heads up from one of our readers who is also a theater manager. According to him, DreamWorks has given the greenlight on showing Shrek the Third a day early.
Just read your article about Pirates being moved up to Thursday shows. You mentioned that Shrek is keeping it's original date of Friday the 18th though. I am also a Movie Theatre Manager for A unaMed Company who will be releasing Shrek on Thursday the 17th at 10:00 pm. We have been directed to place tickets on sale for both Shrek and the 8:00 Pirates (and any shows thereafter we choose to play including mid-nights for Pirates).
Let's wait and see what DreamWorks has to say about this.
