Guy Ritchie
Though Guy Ritchie tried to make up for the Madonna-induced Swept Away with Revolver, the film landed short and, as far as I know, will always have a 'TBA' stamped as its release date.
The director is now back again with another shot at Snatch/Lock, Stock greatness with Rocknrolla, a project he wrote for Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment.
Guy Ritchie to Direct Rocknrolla
Guy Ritchie will direct and produce Rocknrolla, a film that should feature strong ensembles, tons of attitude and a low budget -- which will fall somewhere under $20 million.
In RocknRolla, a Russian mobster orchestrates a crooked land deal, putting millions of dollars up for grabs and attracting all of London's criminal underworld. A dangerous crime lord, a sexy accountant, a corrupt politician and a band of petty thieves are among those double-crossing one another.
"I loved Guy's early British gangster movies, and when he showed me this script and said he wanted to make it right away, it was a strong opportunity to broaden the Dark Castle label to produce with international appeal. The plan is to go well beyond horror and make action comedies, thrillers and urban films."
Silver hopes to finance two to three genre films per year under Dark Castle. Rocknrolla will become one of those three with a start date set for this summer.
