And then there were three. Each of our contestants will perform three songs tonight. The first will be chosen by one of the judges, the second by the producers and the third by the contestant.
A little bit tougher to rank our final three, but here we go 1 through 3.
American Idol S6 Semifinalists Recap
1. Jordin “Wishing on a Star” by Rose Royce chosen by Simon – hot, clear and soulful – Randy said very good vocal, like Beyonce – Paula said Simon picked a good song for her – Simon said sang it brilliantly, didn’t like the arrangement.
“She Works Hard for the Money” by Donna Summer chosen by the producers – fun rendition, has become a good entertainer – Randy said nicely done, hot too – Paula said fantastic – Simon said very good performance.
“I Who Have Nothing” by Tom Jones – better than the first time she performed it, a goose bump song – Randy said her best performance of the night – Paula said something unintelligible and she makes $5 million for this – Simon said wish she would have chosen something other than this 60 year old song.
2. Melinda “I Believe in You and Me” by Whitney Houston chosen by Randy – seemed under sung in parts – nice ending – Randy said hot, blew it out da box – Paula said fantastic, amazing, one of her best performances – Simon said her best performance in last four weeks.
“Nut Bush City Limits” by Ike and Tina Turner chosen by the producers – repetitive song, ok vocal, many other Tina Turner songs that would have been better – Randy said good performance – Paula said we love you, did you have fun – Simon said another brilliant performance.
“I’m a Woman” by Peggy Lee - good – entertaining performance – why didn’t Simon comment how old this song is? – Randy said hot again, got to see her range tonight – Paula said stepping into spotlight – Simon said loved the little ‘striptease’, if he could put someone into the finals for consistently delivering week after week it would be her.
3. Blake “Roxanne” by The Police chosen by Paula – ok – iffy in spots – suited his voice – Randy said good performance, give him an A – Paula said he did her proud, fantastic – Simon said not earth shattering, good not great.
“This Love” by Maroon 5 chosen by the producers – beat box fun in this song – background singers drowned him out in spots – Randy said really cool, good vibe for you – Paula said totally in his element – Simon said better than first song, good.
“When I Get You Alone” by Robin Thicke – did some beat box at the end – all of his songs sort of sound the same – not much range – Randy said cool, ahright – Paula said three great performances – Simon said actually really liked it, takes risks.
Results show Wednesday night on Fox, with a performance by Maroon 5. Who will make it to the finals?
