Elijah Wood
Once a hobbit that enjoyed his days smoking 'weed' in the green lands of Hobbiton, Elijah Wood now plans to go rockstar with The Passenger.
Elijah Wood for Passenger
Produced by Ted Hope's This Is That Prods. and Traction Media, The Passenger will follow Iggy Pop's (played by Elijah Wood) early years with his band the Stooges.
Nick Gomez (Drowning Mona) will direct from a script by Eric Schmid.
Iggy Pop, realname James Newell Osterberg, Jr., is an American rock singer who is considered to be one of the most important innovators of punk rock. Hence his nickname, "the Godfather of Punk".
For those of you wondering why the film is called The Passenger, it is also the title of one of his best-known songs.
The Passenger will begin lensing in the next six month with a $6-$8 million budget. The film is expected to hit theatres midsummer of 2008.
Iggy has already gave the project his blessing, though he won't be making a personal appearance.
