USA Network Introduces The Starter Wife
At the end of May, USA Network is coming out with a new show called The Starter Wife. Brilliant. Just what our society needs. What is the show about? Hmmmm. Imagine if Ari ever divorced his wife on Entourage and then her character got her own show. That show would be called, The Starter Wife. What happens to your life when your big earning husband divorces you and all of your high society privileges get taken away.
The 30 minute pilot seemed to be a bit helter skelter at some points as it tried to cover as much information as possible to set the table for the show’s premise. It bounced around quite confusingly to different characters that you don’t know if you care about yet and places and times that take a little while to figure out what exactly is going on.
The show is based on Gigi Levangie Grazer’s book by the same title and looks like it could be a cross between Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives as we get the female can-do spirit of girl power thrown at us. Throw that into the mix with the other crowd of pretentious LA housewives who have no idea what to do with themselves and you have a recipe for a show that your girlfriend/wife will TIVO behind your back and then force you to watch it.
The Starter Wife debuts Thursday, May 31st at 9PM on USA
